Mobilizing Science Education

Investigation Workshops

Investigation Workshops and TechLabs are inquiry based hands-on exploration experiences that allow students to gain first hand knowledge in science. These programs are delivered to the classroom and are presented by MoLab staff. Classes are designed to compliment the K-12 teacher’s curriculum and to enhance their learning objectives. MoLab offers resources that many teachers do not have access to such as:  tools for scientific inquiry; live insects; class sets of discovery kits in chemistry, electricity, magnetism, and mechanics; and biological models. Additionally, MoLab’s TechLabs offer students a high caliber of authentic learning tools with Lego Mindstorm Robotic Kits, and Apple Learning Technology.  Investigation Workshops and TechLabs are formulated to meet the learning objects for each grade level as outlined by the Common Core Standards.  Workshop topics include Anatomy, Astronomy, Agriculture and Sustainability, Environmental Science, Geology, Health and Nutrition, Renewable Energy, Chemistry, Physics, Robotics, Engineering, Computer Science, and Biology.  MoLab’s classes include instruction with hands-on materials, an experiment or project, and pre and post learning objectives including vocabulary terms and suggestions for extension activities.
