MoLab proudly receives grant from All Points North Foundation!
MoLab is excited to partner with All Points North Foundation to fully transform MoBus into a Solar Science Sustainability Lab. The grant also provides solar science education to nine Title 1 middle schools in Leon and Gadsden Counties during the fall of 2021. All programming will adhere to COVID-19 health and safety procedures.
As part of this programming, the first six months of the project will include completing the transformation of MoBus:
- Covering the vehicle’s exterior with a customized wrap designed to generate excitement about MoBus
- Acquiring additional lab equipment for use with a new curriculum
- Installing solar panels on the bus to power lab activities
- Developing a film introducing students to solar energy
- Converting the MoBus to a more sustainable fuel source: waste vegetable oil
The focus of the curriculum will be on solar and clean energy technologies. The hands-on STEM program will provide students with an understanding of circuitry and electricity helping students to recognize the connection between energy and all living things.
